The Silver Britannia is the official silver bullion coin of the Royal Mint of England and beautifully illustrates the legendary personification of Great Britain. The 2023 Silver Britannia has incorporated bullion security features including: a latent image that shifts from a padlock to a trident, micro text, highly detailed background waves, and crisp tincture lines on Lady Britannia’s shield.

Originally composed of .958 fine silver from its introduction in 1997 until 2012, the Silver Britannia is now struck from 99.9% pure silver. Each Silver Britannia is minted in Brilliant Uncirculated (BU) condition and delivers an elegant, proof-like finish. The Silver Britannia coin is legal tender and fully backed by the United Kingdom for £2 (GBP).

Depicted on the reverse, Britannia, the British nation’s female embodiment, stands proudly holding her trident and Union Jack–adorned shield, looking back at the island she protects.

The obverse features a regal side portrait of the late monarch, Queen Elizabeth II. The Royal Mint is producing two versions of the 2023 gold & silver Britannia’s. This version to honor the late Queen Elizabeth II, and a second version honoring King Charles III.
